I have a 99 Honda Civic LX with over 200k miles. A few months ago I had new spark plugs and wires installed, and even more recently a new distributor cap. Currently the engine misfires a little on startup before it levels out and runs smoothly. After driving for a few minutes it will start to mildly misfire while idling, and worsens when I accelerate. Other times it is fine until I hit 50-55mph, at which point it strongly misfires. Revving the engine will make the misfiring stop until it downshifts. I tried some fuel injector cleaner with no luck. I heard on TV once a report that Barack Obama told Honda they had to build better cars because the quality was just too cheap. Better or they would not be allowed to sell here in the US. I have a 2005 Honda Civic Coupe, I love the car to death, and it is my first car. It is also a used car, I got it from a private owner earlier in October, and the car was working just fine just needed to be cleaned up a bit. However, now entering November every time I try to start the car the battery is either dying or dead. First my dad and I thought I might have left something on, but nothing was left on, and I'm very positive because I always check to see if my inside lights are on, if the headlights are on and such. So then we thought it was because I was not driving it as much and the battery got cold, but that doesn't make sense to me. True, I do not drive the car very often, I probably drive it once a week or a twice a week, but before we even purchased the car the owner and our mechanic said that the battery was good. I'm not sure how old the battery is, but I thought the battery should have been okay. My car doesn't have all those electronic features that newer...

My choice has boiled down to these two cars but here is why I'm having a ha d time choosing. I've never owned a car before so I don't know how much big of a difference one is compared to the other. The Honda Accord cost slightly more than the civic but here is the problem: the insurance on the civic is terrible. So, say if I want to save money which would be better and cost less to own? I have this 2002 Honda Accord I was playing around with that got sold for scrap. I was wondering what would happen if I held the gas pedal at about 4,000 RPMs and then proceed to shutoff the car while holding it at 4,000 rpms. I tried this, nothing bad seemed to have happened. The engine rpms quickly climbed down and the engine shut off like it should. I started the car again and everything seemed normal. Does this actually harm anything if you do this? So just this evening, I went out to run some errands and whatnot. It was cold so I turned on the heat and after I did so I began to hear a light rattling sound coming from inside the dash. It's an intermittent rattle, it almost kinda sounds like a Coffee Maker while it's brewing. I played around with the climate control, tried different temperature ranges, messed with the various vent modes, and it even happens when I turn the climate control off. Nothing I do seems to make it stop. All I know is it sounds like it's coming from within the dash itself, everything seems to work fine still, but the noise is pretty annoying. Specifically, I noticed that virtually all displacements of motorcycle engines are just slightly underrated. For instance, the Kawasaki Ninja 250 engine is actually 249cc of displacement. Similarly, the Honda website rates the 125cc from engine at 124.9cc. I've noticed this with a majority of motorcycles I've come across; their true displacement is slightly below their rated displacement. Any ideas why? Is this for some legal purpose? Monday morning (3 days ago) I drove my car to the store and back. In the afternoon I went to turn it on to go to work only to get it to not start at all. It simply makes one click sound when I turn the key. Here is some info: 1) I changed the battery to see if that was the cause but it's not 2) I was planning to take my car to Kwik Kar to get my oils checked and drained but I went to my car two hours before going to work to check the radiator to see if I was low on coolant. And I low on coolant/anti freeze. I told myself I was going to get it drained and refilled on Sunday as well. 3) Engine light has been on prior to this incident. The code was p0740. I don't have the money currently to fix it because I was told it would be costly. 4) I had not had problems turning it on prior to this happening.
