Should I get new tires for a 16-year-old car?

I have a 2002 Honda Civic sedan. Lately, I've noticed tires spinning when I accelerate on wet pavement or try to accelerate quickly. Of course, if I take it to a garage, they are going to try to sell me tires. With winter coming, I'm concerned about them, but do not want to invest in a whole set of tires on a car I may be trading in next year. Any suggestions?

What's the deal with honda not being able to use coolants with silicates if it makes the coolant better and safer for the engine. Reason?

Is it for a reason or just honda wants our cars to last shortly? Added (1). Roughly how much could I get from selling my hybrid car with a dead hybrid battery?

I have a 2007 Honda Civic Hybrid with about 175k miles. I'm the second owner and there's nothing else wrong with it besides the dead hybrid battery. The battery is very expensive to replace and it's honestly just more of a financially smart decision to sell it rather than spending about 2,000 on a new battery. I just want to know what is a decent price to let it go for considering the hybrid battery is dead ultimately making it useless until replaced.
