2010 Volvo S80 3.2 is this a good vehicle?

So I'm looking at buying a 2010 Volvo S80 3.2 non turbo. This car is beautiful and whoever owned it before took good care of it. It has 141 thousand miles. And the price after Tax, Title and other fees is $8400. I no nothing about Volvo's but the salesman said that Volvo's are better then Toyota's and Honda's. And that this car was a 40 thousand dollar car brand new. I'm buying this for my wife and I want to make sure she has something reliable and safe. Thank you!

What's the deal with honda not being able to use coolants with silicates if it makes the coolant better and safer for the engine. Reason?

Is it for a reason or just honda wants our cars to last shortly? Added (1). Roughly how much could I get from selling my hybrid car with a dead hybrid battery?

I have a 2007 Honda Civic Hybrid with about 175k miles. I'm the second owner and there's nothing else wrong with it besides the dead hybrid battery. The battery is very expensive to replace and it's honestly just more of a financially smart decision to sell it rather than spending about 2,000 on a new battery. I just want to know what is a decent price to let it go for considering the hybrid battery is dead ultimately making it useless until replaced.
