I live near Puerto rico. Hurricane irma will hit Tuesday night. Should i take it seriously?

I'm a college student. I have online assignments that are due wednesday. So i need to finish them Tuesday at college campus because i don't have internet home. The problem is that hurricane irma will hit Tuesday night and i need 30 minuets driving to reach home, should i take a chance and stay at the 24 hours lab. Even though the college will be closed but i can access to the lab by using my card at any time. I'm really concerning about driving a honda fit during the hurricane as it's too low and too small. But I'm not sure if it's that bad. I don't think that the hurricane will hit us directly. What should i do?
