2009 Honda Civic still running went shutoff completely. Now battery is dead

Took my 2009 Honda Civic on about a 40 minute drive to & from my destination. I get home, turn the car off & something still sounds like it's running (fans/engine)?, went out the next morning and the car is completely dead. Any suggestions?
