2001 honda accord my engine light came on today as I was going to work I had stopped and I started to go and seemed like it didn't wanna go?

not sure if it's the transmission cuz wen I take off going into first gear it kinda jumps little. What could it be.Could it be the transmission.Ugh i hope not just brought the car haven't even had it a month. Any advice?

I'm so confused about my car?

So the vin number says it's a 2008 Honda civic ex 4 Door sedan. The car has leather sterring wheel, seats, and heated seats and was sold to me as the ex-l sedan.
